How to choose a Padel Racket

Chosing the right Padel Racket can be the key to success. You must think carefully about size, weight and head shape.

This buying guide is designed to help you make the correct decision.

What weight should I choose?

Padel Station stocks a wide range of rackets, which way between 240 grams, which are best suited to junior players, up to 375 grams, which men tend to choose. Women generally choose rackets around 360 grams but it is personal preference. Padel experts recommend playing with and trying out several different racket weights to decide which one is best suited to you and your game.

What shape is best for me?

There are three main types of head shapes for Padel rackets: Round, Diamond and Teardrop.
For beginners, we recommend a round head shape. They are head light balance which makes them easier to play with. They also have bigger sweet spots and so are easier when you hit off-centre. These rackets offer greater control but less power.

We recommend a teardrop shape racket head for intermediate players. They offer a balance between control and power and are great for a wide range of playing styles.

Diamond shaped Padel rackets are for advanced players, these are what professional players use. They have a much smaller sweet spot but offer lots of power. They are best for attacking players. The diamond shaped racket head tends to be heavier, so we recommend buying a lighter weight racket to compensate for this.

Does thickness make a difference?

Padel Station stock rackets with thicknesses between 35mm and 38mm. 38mm is the thickest racket allowed under current regulations. The thinner rackets are recommended for juniors and beginners. Thicker rackets are more powerful and are more wll suited to advanced players.
